Rest Is Not a Reward—It’s a Right
For too long, Black women have been celebrated for our resilience, our strength, and our ability to carry the weight of the world on our shoulders. We have been the backbone of movements, families, workplaces, and entire communities. But in a society that expects us to keep pushing through exhaustion, we have to ask: When do we get to rest?
Today, on Black Women Rest Day, we are reclaiming what has always been ours—the right to slow down, to pause, and to exist without the need to prove our worth through labor.
